Intro to Radon Measurement In Schools and Large Buildings 4hr SPRUCE414 (Spruce-414)

Description
4 CE Credits
Join Matt Hendrick and Nate Burden recorded live at the NEAARST conference in Portsmouth NH, 2019, for an Introduction to Radon measurement in Schools and Large Buildings.

Radon can be present in dangerous amounts in schools, workplaces, apartments and multifamily buildings. The testing procedures and the fixes for radon and the design practices for large buildings are different than those in homes. This course introduces large building behaviors that must be accounted for when testing and fixing radon.

Prior Radon Measurement entry-level training is recommended. This 4 hour video course will remind participants of some of the dynamics that influence radon entry in larger buildings and how those may fluctuate with use, HVAC changes and construction. Based on those dynamics, the basics of proper measurement will be outlined with the justifications for the procedures. The course will outline the new AARST/ANSI Standard for Conducting Radon Measurement in Schools and Large Buildings and will also answer many practical questions, including adequately pricing a large-scale job.

Key concepts:
Need for Planning
Thorough Radon Testing
Occupied vs Unoccupied Testing Periods
Identifying HVAC and Unique Sectors in the Building
Some Other Building Dynamics that Influence Radon Entry
Features Designed into Large Buildings to Reduce Radon Entry

Audience: Testing and Mitigation professionals; building and HVAC designers; school officials and large building managers
